The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (Sands) is currently designing a one-day bereavement care workshop for spoken language and sign language interpreters, to be launched in 2018. The course will aim to enable interpreters to develop the knowledge and skills to facilitate effective and sensitive communication between health practitioners and non-English speaking and deaf parents who experience the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth.
It is crucial that the new course includes contributions from interpreters who have worked with non-English speaking or deaf parents either at the time of their loss and/or during any follow up appointments afterwards. If you are willing to share something of your experiences and/or want to contribute suggestions please complete this short survey, ideally by the end of August. (Please note the survey will remain live until the end of September.)
