The South West Region, or the South West Massive as we are more commonly known, is a vibrant and tightly knit ASLI region.
Our regional contact is Joe Rollin and we have a team comprised of Joe, with Holly Harwood and Lynne Bateman. We’d love to grow the team, especially if you are a Deaf Intepreter or TSLI, but anyone is welcome!
We hold our regional meetings every six weeks or so and we regularly host invited guests and training in these sessions. In addition to this we regularly hold a wide variety of training events and socials! The region is well represented at national consultation days and we try to ensure that any member who wants to has the chance to attend.
In 2007 the Jane Powell memorial library (https://www.signingworks.co.uk/jane-powell-memorial-library/) was established by the region for the benefit of those training and studying to become interpreters. Jane was an exceptional interpreter and a much loved member of the region who sadly died in 2004, the library serves as an ongoing tribute to her. The Library is generously housed by local agency Signing Works, the borrowing process is straight forward just email your book requests to info@signingworks.co.uk.
Please do check the calendar for our regional events and contact any of the regional team if you have any questions. Visitors from other regions are always most welcome.
