Interpreters and Artificial Intelligence - Is it useful and what does safe use look like?
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming many fields, including interpreting, so let's talk about
it. This interactive workshop will explore AI basics, the potential benefits and practical
applications of AI tools for interpreters, and address crucial considerations regarding privacy
and ethical use. We'll create a safe space for discussion about our current and potential AI
usage, and collaboratively consider best practices.
The workshop will be run by Tom Mould and last for approximately 1hr30.
Tom will deliver in BSL or English
The workshop won't be recorded. There won’t be slides, but we’ll share an AI transcript afterwards!
Tom Mould is a qualified BSL/English interpreter with a keen interest in technology and AI. He is
based in Hertfordshire, England and has been qualified since 2012. Tom is currently studying on
the MSc Advancing Practice in Signed/Spoken Language Interpreting at Queen Margaret
University and works full time as a freelance interpreter
