ASLI West Midlands and University of Wolverhampton Open Space Event
5th March 2022 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
£100.00West Midlands Region is proud to welcome members to this Open Space event in collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton.
The day will feature an Open Space session in the morning, an opportunity to network, information from the University of Wolverhampton on their MA and MA Top-Up courses, and presentations from current MA and PhD students on their research.
What is an Open Space?
Open Space is a powerful tool for engaging large and small groups of people in discussions to explore particular questions or issues. It is particularly important because it enables people with ideas and energy to connect creating the opportunity to turn ideas into action.
Open Space has Four Rules and One Law (the Law of Two Feet).
The Four Rules state:
1. Whoever come are the right people
2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
3. Whenever it starts is the right time
4. When it’s over, it’s over
The Law of Two Feet states that:
“If, during the course of the gathering, any person finds themselves in a situation where they are neither learning nor contributing, they can go to some more productive place.”
Come along with your ideas, questions, dilemmas and ponderings. We encourage interpreters from all stages in their careers to come and we hope to group you together to discuss the subjects you wish to discuss.
In the afternoon, we will hear from the University about their MA course; and hear from four MA students and four PhD students on their current research – an exciting opportunity to learn about interpreting research happening at the heart of our region.
Meet in MU505, Lord Swraj Building, University of Wolverhampton, WV1 1LY
We welcome attendees to take LFTs before attending and wear masks if they wish to do so. Hand gel will be available on the day.
This event is worth 7 CPD points. Lunch will be provided.
