Ethics in Interpreting workshop

12th September 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free
“Whether qualified for years, newly qualified, or still in training we all face ethical dilemmas and can find ourselves unexpectedly working “in the grey zone”. During this workshop Wendy will offer you some frameworks to enable you to examine the decisions you make and the approach you take to your professional practice. Through a mix of teaching and small group work in breakout rooms, by the end of the session you will have had an opportunity to:
  • Review some of the theory which informs our ethical practice including – but not limited to – Demand Control Schema
  • Understand how to use a number of ethical decision making tools
  • Work with your peers to apply the theory to real ethical dilemmas
  • Assess how effective your responses to ethical dilemmas are
  • Be directed to further learning on the subject.”

Once you have booked your place on this event, please email the following information to Wendy at training@linguistpd.co.uk :

– example or real-life ethical dilemmas that you would like to discuss (if you would prefer these to be anonymous to the trainer and the wider group, you can send them via me at dphippardinterpreter@gmail.com)

how long you have been an interpreter

– how familiar you are with Demand Control Schema

– any specific desired outcomes/questions that you have
