Gavin Lilley course: Introduction to International Sign (IS) Part 2, Series 2

Gavin is delivering two series of this Part 2 course. You do not need to book both series!

We are delighted to host Gavin Lilley to deliver his International Sign course via Zoom! This course will be delivered in sign language only.

This course is designed to further develop learning from part 1.

This course will cover the basic aspects of how to efficiently communicate with foreign sign language users. Together we explore the concept of international signing, how it works and is used effectively. We will look at the similarities in the grammatical structure between sign languages and consider how to utilise certain elements to ensure that the most internationally accessible form of signing is used. We will also discuss the hindrances that can come through cultural differences and how these can be overcome, ensuring that signed dialogue is as clear and as widely understandable as possible.

This is a 6-part course, each session will be 1.5 hours from 7.30pm-9pm.
