Interpreting Pathways is offering 2 webinars to ASLI South West region from our From Theory to Practice series.
The very popular, From Theory to Practice workshops and webinars are for interpreters who want to improve their practice by applying some research findings from those who are studying interpreting. Interpreting Pathways are offering two interactive online webinars for ASLI members.
There is now increasing research being conducted regarding interpreting process and practice. This research aims to inform the practice of working professionals, but many working interpreters do not regularly access current interpreting research, and therefore do not benefit from resources available to them. These webinars aim to offer practical application from some recent interpreting research in a form that is understandable and beneficial for all students and interpreters.
The material in each webinar will be similar to the research included in day workshops held in Bristol in 2018 and London in 2019. It is different from recent Interpreting Pathways From Theory to Practice webinars held so far in 2020.
Objectives:
– Examine summaries of recent research related to the interpreting profession (focused particularly on research from the past 5 years)
– Apply the findings of this research to their everyday interpreting practice
– Identify how to locate, access and use academic literature to continue their learning
Interpreting Pathways is a training and support organisation founded by Sarah Haynes (ASLI SW member and ASLI Fellow) and Elizabeth Gardner (Nationally Certified Interpreter in Chicago, USA). We seek to offer learning and support opportunities for the interpreting professions in the UK and USA. Sarah and Elizabeth will facilitate these webinars together.
