Theresa Thomas-Morton, Practice Policy Officer from the NRCPD, will be coming to speak to trainees about the future for regulated trainees. She will give a presentation on the suggested changes, the guidance that will be released and taking feedback on the work.

This event is open to any trainee or student interpreter/translator – you do not need to be a member of ASLI.

These documents outline the four ‘phases’ of Trainee Development and the expected competencies at each phase. Each phase is then accompanied with guidance for practice development and practice restriction. You will see that there are additional notes for Trainee Intralingual interpreters, in recognition that their exposure to complex settings may occur earlier than other regulated trainees, due to the nature of their work.

C Practitioner Supportive Framework

This diagram shows the different professional support that practitioners will engage with as their career develops. You will note that the terms ‘Endorsing Supervisor’ or ‘Supervisor’ have now been replaced by the titles ‘Practice Assessor’ and ‘Senior Practitioner’. This hopefully clarifies the roles as separate from that provided by a ‘Professional Supervisor’.
