This workshop will be delivered by Ian Broadhurst, a freelance trainer with over ten years experience. Standard first aid is the help given to a physically injured person before they get professional help. Likewise ‘mental health first aid’ is the initial help given to a person who is experiencing a mental health problem. The SMHFA course will equip you with the skills to assist someone with a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis, before they get professional help.
NB: This workshop is not designed to prepare interpreters with the skills required to work in mental health settings.
