Webinar: Enforcing rights under the Equality Act 2010: will the BSL Act 2022 help?

29th June 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free – £15.00

Presented in BSL by Dr. Rob Wilks and interpreted into English

The BSL Act 2022 was signed into law on 28 April 2022, signifying a new era in the BSL campaign for legal recognition across the UK. Concerns have been raised regarding its effectiveness, including the fact that it does not create any new rights for BSL users and instead points to other legislation such as the Equality Act 2010. So then, can deaf people and BSL/English interpreters rely on it to enforce deaf people’s rights? How does it complement the Equality Act 2010, if at all? How does one enforce one’s rights under the Equality 2010?
