Midwifery matters

Part 2 looks at what the interpreter can expect to encounter in the pre-natal, intra-partum and post-partum period. 

Considerations will be given to equipment and related jargon, different examinations performed on both mother and baby accompanied by the reasons they are undertaken and the unexpected demands that could be made on the interpreter. 

Unfamiliar terminology will be explained along with idiosyncratic language used in midwifery. 

Descriptions of bodily fluids will be used so not for the faint hearted!
