West Midlands Interpreting in Medical Settings

This course is aimed at interpreters who have experience of working in medical settings or those looking to improve their knowledge base before starting work in this domain.

Participants on this course will benefit from the experience of three highly skilled and experienced professionals; Byron Campbell, Radha Starr and Di Phaisey.

The training day will cover the following topics;

* Medical Terminology including basic Anatomy & Physiology

* Medical Departments & Common Procedures

* Discussion on BSL translations for many common medical terms

* Dealing with dilemmas and coping strategies in medical settings

The course will be delivered using a combination of presentations, role-plays, group discussions and Q & A sessions. Some sessions of this course will be conducted in English and some in BSL.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  Please let Danielle know if you have any dietary requirements.
