Hattie Bowden-Howl is pleased to offer her second workshop to ASLI at a special ASLI member price. Thsi session aims to increase your awareness as an interpreter of the likelihood of becoming emotionally affected in your work. This workshop will clarify the difference between burnout and vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. We will spend time discussing the impact of these types of emotional distress. Hattie will then bring in various ideas of what actual ‘’self’’-care’ looks like – personally and professionally, with a community focus. We explore what can make this hard to practice and offers realistic suggestions that you may want to consider in your work and life.
Hattie is deaf and usually delivers this using speech and sign, but will have a BSL interpreter with her. Please let us know if you have any additonal access needs by emailing training@asli.org.uk.
Hattie highly recommends you attend her first workshop "Trauma-Sensitive Boundaries in Interpreting", which touches on many ideas introduced from there. Please contact Hattie directly if want to be added to a waiting list for this workshop - hattiebowden-howl@outlook.com.
A PDF of the slides will be sent after the workshop.
This session will not be recorded. Participants will receive 3 CPD points.
