Webinar: The Drama Triangle

7th May 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free – £25.00

The Drama Triangle: understanding psychological games at work

Presented by Ali Hetherington

As interpreters we find ourselves in various work settings where we may become involved in conflict with co-workers, clients and others, the dynamics of which can be hard to understand. The Drama Triangle, developed by Steven Karpman in the 1960s, is a useful model for recognising the games people play in conflict situations and for helping us to understand why we get into unhealthy relationships. The model demonstrates the alternating roles of Victim, Persecutor and Rescuer that we may unconsciously adopt and become trapped in. The webinar will explore the characteristics of each role to help you understand when and how you might enter the Drama Triangle. You will be offered practical tips on how to resolve conflict by stepping out of the Drama Triangle and make positive changes to difficult relationships at work.

Learning outcomes:

Recognise how the Drama Triangle plays out in work related situations
Understand the three roles of Victim, Persecutor and Rescuer
Recognise when (and where) you might enter the Drama Triangle
Develop an understanding of how to step off the Drama Triangle
