Delivered in BSL - Unlock the Power of Visualising Medical Concepts in BSL
This in-person CPD workshop supports interpreters in breaking down complex medical concepts—such as how organs function—and expressing them with clarity and visual fluency in British Sign Language (BSL).
Ideal for TSLIs, RSLIs, and RSLTs working in or exploring medical contexts, and particularly valuable for those preparing for assignments that require confident visual interpretation of medical ideas.
Through hands-on learning in a reflective, supportive environment, participants will explore techniques to represent anatomy and medical processes naturally in BSL, enhance visual accuracy and expression, and develop a personalised approach to medical interpreting. The workshop also addresses common challenges in conveying complex information with clarity and coherence, fostering greater confidence in medical settings.
Workshop Aims
To develop participants’ skills in visually representing complex medical concepts clearly and accurately in BSL.
To build participants’ confidence in explaining detailed anatomy and physiological processes.
To provide strategies for overcoming challenges in communicating complex medical information.
To encourage a personalised and natural approach to visualising medical content in BSL.
