ASLI Board Roles

ASLI Board of Directors

Hi I'm Vicki Carrabin and I am just coming up to the end of my first year on the ASLI board of Directors.  I have taken on responsibility for Training (with Sandra Pratt) and for Regions and Networks.  Being part of the board is challenging but as I have been an ASLI member since my student days it is great to contribute to our Association.  The Region/Network role is the first point of contact between the Board and Regions/Networks for issues that cannot be dealt with by the ASLI office.  I arrange quarterly get-togethers to update regions on the Board's work and gather any issues from regions to take back to the board.  In addition to this there are other issues that we have to discuss as a board.  Recently we have been working on getting more admin support in place to allow the Board members to be less hands on and more strategic. The conference is coming up too and the AGM so lots of effort is going into those at the moment.

The current Board has only six directors from a potential nine.  This does mean that we have more work to carry out than we would at full strength. There are lots of different roles available on the Board.  Have a look at the AGM pack for more information.  If you are considering putting yourself forward for a role on the Board and would like to talk about it please do get in touch with me or any other board member.  board@asli.org.uk
