Wellbeing and Support Statement

ASLI Wellbeing and Support 2025

The Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Translators (ASLI) is a professional membership organisation. We take the wellbeing and safety of our members seriously.

We expect our members to conduct themselves in accordance with our Membership Policy (read this here)

We support the work of other organisations such as NRCPD to ensure that members are regulated and uphold the appropriate code of conduct (read this here

ASLI recognises the importance of safeguarding principles and promotes best practice among its members, particularly in settings where they may work with vulnerable individuals.

ASLI is committed to supporting its members and, when needed, will provide advice and signpost them to appropriate resources.

It is important to note that as a professional membership organisation we are not required to have a safeguarding policy. We don't work directly with vulnerable adults or children and therefore we are not trained to provide specialist advice regarding safeguarding concerns. Please always contact the relevant services e.g. the police or local authority for advice or to report immediate concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a vulnerable person.

Examples of support available from ASLI include:

-Accessing our wellbeing fund, (read more here)

-Contacting our membership officer for advice and signposting (membership@asli.org.uk)

-Reaching out to our board member for Wellbeing (wellbeingregionsasliboard@gmail.com)  with ideas to improve members wellbeing

-Contacting our administrator (administration@asli.org.uk) for general information

-Signposting to resources from organisations such as SignHealth

-Signposting to report professional conduct concerns to NRCPD

We value our members and strive to create supportive, safe and respectful professional spaces for all.
