Board Members standing for re election

There are 2 board members standing for re election at this years AGM,

Tessa Slaughter (Chair)

Vicki Carrabin (Finance)

Board Member standing for Election

Becky Fenton Ree

I am an NRCPD RSLI interpreter (Degree and Postgraduate route) and also hold QTLS status, along with a Postgraduate Teacher of the Deaf qualification, a Master’s degree, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Higher Education. These provide a strong foundation in education and teaching pedagogy across a wide range of ages.

For the past five years, I have worked with the University of Wolverhampton to facilitate student interpreting placements, supporting their practical training and professional development. My past experience also includes working with trainee interpreters at university level and currently supervising five trainees, including a deaf trainee, as a senior practitioner and practice assessor.

I have designed and led bespoke training for CSWs and trainee interpreters working in deaf education, ensuring their CPD is relevant and impactful.

I am passionate about supporting interpreters and translators in their professional growth, believing that meaningful up-skilling boosts confidence and enhances practice. I am confident in exploring innovative ideas to improve learning opportunities.

Having recently taken a career break from teaching to focus on community interpreting, I am now eager to apply my skills to supporting trainees. Collaboration drives me, and I am motivated by the chance to strengthen professional practice that leads to better access and support for the Deaf Community.

This role aligns closely with both my experience and my passion for education. I look forward to contributing my skills, commitment, and enthusiasm to the Association.
