Our autonomic nervous system is constantly taking in information from the world around us, helping us to assess if we are safe or in danger. This all takes place below the level of our awareness, yet shapes how we feel and think about any given situation. When our threat system is activated, how we see the world and the stories we tell ourselves are different from when we feel safe. Even when the threat has passed, our bodies can remain in a state of perceived threat potentially leading to prolonged stress and anxiety.
This presentation will introduce Polyvagal theory to explore how we can reshape our nervous system to enable us move through the world with an increased sense of safety, confidence and resilience.
