This full day training will enhance knowledge around dementia as a condition and how this has an impact on Deaf people with dementia and their families. You will consider the implications for your practice as BSL interpreters whilst working within this specialist domain and reflect on your experience and skills in working with everyone involved in the care pathway. This is a safe and collaborative learning process where everyone is included and given opportunities to share their thoughts and questions.
This event will be delivered in BSL.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
Space is limited to 19 people. This event is free for East Midlands members.
The training session Working with Deaf People with Dementia and Their Families will be delivered by Dr Emma Ferguson-Coleman.
Dr Emma Ferguson-Coleman has worked within the field of mental health and deafness for over 25 years; primarily as an independent mental health advocate within acute and forensic mental health services with Deaf people.
