Action responses –
Current committee will be coming to a close in July
so if no one takes it on any outstanding things will
go back to the main board.
Still yet to decide the exact setup but will set up a
poll to determine the details.
4.0 TSLIs
No trainees in attendance, but mindful that
someone who is a trainee would benefit from a
check in prior to the assignment to discuss any
coworking etc. Or even reach out at the time of
booking or in good time before.
Think about your own co-working preferences and
bring these to the table – let your coworker know
that it takes time to work out what these might be
and that is ok.
Be mindful that the reason someone might have
specific coworking needs could be for a number of
reasons including medical.
Other discussions about “coworking” with other
members in the assignments and how you can use
them to aid the interpretation, for example a
support worker with a client that may know that
person more than yourself. Or a spoken language
interpreter. Prior discussions are key!
5.0 Training
ASLI NW day – similar format to last year.
POST MEETING EDIT…NEW DATE FOR ASLI
NW DAY IS 1ST AUGUST.
Other groups and training events that aren't
specific to NW – you can check on the ASLI
website
Free resources out there not necessarily linked to
interpreting as such – if you're working with
someone with dementia for example you can
access free online courses on Alzheimers Society
website.
Safeguarding in our prefession is not mandatory
but it's very useful to have this knowledge when we
come into contact with such varied backgrounds,
maybe a question for the board – as we need DBS
checks should we not have to do this every few
years?
Jacki Pritchard offers safeguarding training and
recommended by one attendee.
6.0 Membership Officer Role

7.0 AGM

8.0 Survey

9.0 Re registration

expect an email to re register and click the link to
follow the instructions.
10.0 AOB
Discussion over several clients being told that the
“interpreter hasn't showed up” and feels like there
has been an increase in this. But confusion over
whether the interpreter has actually been booked,
the agency is falsely claiming that an interpreter is
booked, or the agency hasn't been notified of an
interpreter being needed. This is an issue that has
been going on for a long time, and is becoming
more prevalent, but the question lies with how this
gets tackled.
MDC anniversary – big event in November to
celebrate 180 years of the Deaf Centre - 7th
November.
