WELCOME TO ASLI

A warm welcome to new members!

Dear Member, 

Welcome to the Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Translators (ASLI). We are delighted that you have chosen to join our professional community of sign language interpreters and translators across the UK. 

Whether you are new to the profession or bring years of experience, ASLI exists to support your professional growth, wellbeing, and connection to others working in the field. By becoming a member, you are joining a collective that is committed to high standards, ethical and reflective practice, and the strengthening of our profession. 

ASLI is a member-led organsiation, and everything we do is shaped by the people who belong to it. We encourage you to get involved, connect with others, and make full use of the support and opportunities available to you. 

We look forward to supporting you throughout your jouney with ASLI. 

 


 

Getting Started: Your First Steps

To help you settle into ASLI, we recommend the following:

a. Log in to the Member Portal

Visit the ASLI website and log in using your membership details. From here, you can: 

  • Update your profile and preferences
  • Access guidance and insurance documents
  • Browse events and regional activities

b. Connect with your Regional Group

Regional groups are at the heart of ASLI. They offer:

  • Local CPD sessions
  • Peer support and discussion
  • Opportunities to meet colleagues in your area

Explore your Regional Group here. 

c. Explore Events and Training

Check the events calendar regularly for workshops, webinars, panel discussions, and CPD opportunities. Many events are popular, so early registration is recommended. 

 


 

A Reminder of our Membership Benefits and Essentials

ASLI Membership includes:

  • Qualified and Trainee Practitioners: known as those who are Qualified and Trainee Interpreters and Translators. 
  • Non-Practising Members: known as those who are not currently working as active sign language interpreters and translators. 
  • Students: known as those who enrolled in a recognised sign language interpreting and translating course and are not working as a sign language interpreter and translator. 
  • Individual and Corporate Supporters: known as individuals and corporate supporters who support the work of ASLI.
