A team based at Bangor University is documenting the different variants of sign language used across Wales.

The project is working to identify the number of regional BSL dialects in Wales, recording older signs used by deaf people before they fade from use, as an important part of Wales’s cultural and linguistic history.

Newsli talked to Dr Rob Wilks and Dr Anouschka Foltz, as well as Dr Christopher Shank about this element of their work.
