ASLI Members' Insurance - 2024 Renewal

Qualified and Trainee Practitioner Members of ASLI are covered by our comprehensive insurance package, now renewed for 2024 with a higher £5million maximum

The ASLI Board know how much our Qualified and Trainee Practitioner members value the comprehensive insurance package that we include as a key member benefit. Every year, the Board take the time to scrutinise our insurance provisions and check that they are still fit for purpose and meet our needs as working interpreters, translators, mentors, supervisors and other roles relevant to our work.

Our previous package was already generous at £2 million - indeed it was considered industry leading when it was organised - however we did not want to be complacent about our offer.

This year, while researching the market during the renewal process for our insurance provision, we have found that several key organisations have increased their insurance requirements to £5 million for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Certain public funding bodies, such as the Department for Education (e.g. Disabled Student's Allowance) and other statutory bodies, have also now implemented a £5 million insurance cover.

We have therefore made the decision to increase ASLI's insurance maximum to £5 million for both PII and PLI from 31st May 2024.

Our insurance broker has negotiated a package that in real terms is excellent value (especially considering inflation). This is because we have strength in numbers: our ability to negotiate favourable insurance rates with cover that really meets our needs in the industry is all because of our members.

If you are eligible to join ASLI as a Qualified or Trainee Practitioner but are not yet a member, please do visit our membership page and consider joining us to benefit from our industry leading insurance, as well as gaining access to our extensive support networks and resource library and training offer. If you have any further questions about ASLI, our insurance or our membership offer, please get in touch by emailing office@asli.org.uk
